Short Summary

Lead consultant supporting the Periodic Review of the Strunjan Landscape Park Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Importance (SPAMI) under the framework of the Barcelona Convention and SPA/RAC.

The consultancy focused on assessing governance effectiveness, management implementation, institutional coordination and conservation approaches within one of the Mediterranean SPAMI sites.

The work contributed to the regional evaluation framework supporting the long-term effectiveness and governance of Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas.

Key Contributions

  • Lead consultant responsible for the Periodic Review process of the Strunjan SPAMI site.
  • Review and assessment of governance arrangements, management effectiveness and institutional coordination mechanisms.
  • Analysis of management planning, conservation implementation and stakeholder engagement processes.
  • Assessment of compliance and alignment with SPAMI and Barcelona Convention objectives.
  • Development of technical recommendations supporting governance strengthening and long-term management effectiveness.
  • Technical reporting and synthesis under the framework of SPA/RAC and the Barcelona Convention.
