Field-based coral restoration and marine conservation work conducted in Kuda Huraa, Maldives, supporting reef restoration, marine education and biodiversity conservation initiatives within a remote island environment.
The project combined hands-on coral restoration activities, environmental education and marine monitoring in one of the world’s most iconic coral reef regions.
Key Contributions
- Coordination and maintenance of approximately 1,000 coral restoration frames supporting reef rehabilitation efforts.
- Development and implementation of coral restoration activities around Kuda Huraa Island.
- Delivery of marine education and conservation awareness activities for resort guests and visitors.
- Contribution to marine biodiversity monitoring activities, including fisheries monitoring and sea turtle conservation initiatives.
- Support for sea turtle rescue, rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
- Field-based marine conservation work conducted as the resident coral researcher on the island.
